Character Information

Character Name: Felix
Character Series: Golden Sun
Character Age: 18
Character Gender: Male

Original Canon
Canon Point: Right after he casts in the Mars Star and the Mars beacon has just fired, restoring the full power of Alchemy to Weyard.
Background Link: Felix's biography.

Personality: Felix is one of those characters whose normal, happy life was totally shattered by one tragic event. And, much like other characters in these situations, despite his personality being highly shaped by this, some of his characteristics remain the same.

Talking to the residents of Vale shows that many of them thought highly of Felix before his apparent death, saying that he was a good person or that they missed him. Despite stepping into the role of a traitor to his village, his heart still remains kindly. Felix does not want to involve anyone who isn't related to the matter of lighting the beacons, and flat-out tells Saturos and Menardi that they had promised him they wouldn't while they argued on Venus Lighthouse. He was also very unhappy when his sister and Kraden ended up becoming their hostages while Mt. Aleph was on the verge of erupting, but realized it was best to escape and ensure the ones he was capable of saving could survive.

Felix is clearly concerned about the safety of others, as evident by his not wanting to include any unrelated people. He often questions if others will be safe to Saturos and Menardi, such as when he insists he needs to get Sheba off the top of Venus Lighthouse before the beacon is lit. He will also try to be very sympathetic with others if they're going through hard times. If he can't fix it, he'll try to make it better through understanding, like when he tells Isaac and Garet he's felt what they're feeling when they find Vale is destroyed. Felix is fully willing to put his life on the line to protect others, most easily illustrated when he jumped off the aerie of Venus Lighthouse after Sheba fell off. Many of his later adventures put his life on the line for the sake of others, as well. He was even willing to go through the pain of possibly having been responsible for the deaths of his parents if it meant restoring the power of Alchemy to Weyard and saving the world from falling apart.

Also much like other characters with one major tragedy that shaped the rest of their lives, Felix has qualities he obviously developed afterwards, specifically during the time he spend with Saturos, Menardi, and the people of Prox. He usually doesn't see the need to explain himself unless it's absolutely necessary, such as how he held off on telling Jenna and Sheba the biggest reason for needing to light the lighthouses until they were well into the journey. This is a habit he picked up after his time with Saturos and Menardi since neither of them were the sort to listen to reason. For example, Felix tried to tell them it was best to be safe, which they immediately rebuked him for. They also called him "rebellious", which is probably more of a reflection on him not seeming to share their opinion that the ends justify the means. Still, Felix also seems to have developed his more self-sacrificial side into a belief that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. This is especially true if "the few" means him. He can accept that some sacrifices have to be made to do what's right, such as helping Saturos, Menardi, and Alex get into Sol Sanctum and thereby betraying his hometown.

And then Felix has several qualities that are a bit harder to pin down when they might have developed. Since they're both positive and negative traits, there are a variety of possible explanations. The fact remains that he has them and that's really what matters. For one, Felix is a very good and capable leader, judging by the fact that he stepped in after Saturos and Menardi were killed and proceeded to lead the group when they united with Isaac's team. He is also, as Kraden says, quite rash. The way Felix acts when he's concerned about others is a prime example of this, and once again the best illustration is him thinking jumping off a lighthouse after someone is apparently a good idea. Alex also says that once Felix gets an idea in his head, he rarely changes his mind. This is the best quote showing just how stubborn and persistent he can be.

Another side of Felix that gets limited screentime (thanks to his roles in both games) is the fact that his emotions can get the better of him. This isn't to say that's he's emotional, but rather that they can be obvious to those around him and can cloud his judgement at times. A few remarks are made about the expression on his face and, not to sound like a broken record, but seriously, who in their right mind thinks that jumping off a lighthouse is possibly going to make things better? Emotional connections can also be hard for Felix to break, such as his desire to help Isaac when their group was trapped by Karst and Agatio despite the fact that Isaac viewed him as an enemy. Felix even has a bit of a mischievous side, the extent of which depends on choices made by the player in the game. One example that never changes, however, is how he joins in on the conspiracy to get Piers to tell them all how old he really is.

So, to sum up, Felix is a good guy at heart who had to adjust thanks to life dealing him a crappy hand when he was 15. But despite everything he's gone through, he still has the best interests of others in mind and will do what he can to help as many people as possible. Just don't get him too worked up or he will go so far as to jump off the top of a freaking lighthouse trying to save people.

Abilities: Felix will be coming in as a level 50 Adept, which does have an effect on what abilities are available to him as well as how much he can use them. His Psynergy Points would be between 135 and 235 depending on his class. This number is particularly noteworthy because it will set his limitations on the following list of his powers. He can very slowly regain a point at a time by walking around, and with a good night's sleep can recover all of both his HP and PP (though I think HP will be translated more to stamina in this setting). Since Felix was born a Venus Adept and will be bringing his Venus Djinn with him, he will be able to take on the classes in the Squire category and thus have the following spells at his disposal at all times:
  • Retreat - (6 PP) Retreat is a power that, in game, allows the player to go to the beginning of dungeons from almost any point. In this setting, I have a feeling it will likely be useless. But if you would be okay with it sending him to a certain point in the tower from areas where his power works, I'm willing to discuss.
  • Move - (2 PP) Move is a standard power for Venus Adepts and Garet that can move larger items the distance of its width away per use. This is mostly useful when the item is in an area where it cannot be pushed by physical force. You'd be surprised how often this happens.
  • Sand - (2 PP) A special technique that only Felix knows after obtaining it in Gaia Rock. Sand allows the user to meld into any open area of sand or loose soil with enough free space to support their full body mass (i.e. no rocks or plants over where he enters). He can then move under the surface as far as the loose ground can support him, kind of like Bugs Bunny but without displacing stuff as badly.
  • Cure series - Cure Psynergy includes Cure (3 PP), Cure Well (7 PP), and Potent Cure (10 PP). In the game, this allows you to restore HP to one character based on a numerical minimum. Cure is said to restore 70 HP but this can be higher, for example. In the tower, these spells will help to heal wounds, but the area will still be tender and the wound could be reopened with enough stress. The severity of the wounds it can heal and how well it works depends on which level spell he uses.
  • Quake series - This includes Quake (4 PP), Earthquake (7 PP), and Quake Sphere (15 PP). These are attacks that shake the ground to hurt enemies, and as it increases in power, the amount of both the tremors and the number of enemies it can affect increases.
  • Spire series - The attacks in this family include Spire (5 PP), Clay Spire (13 PP), and Stone Spire (22 PP). They work by dropping sharp, pointy rocks on enemies. Much like Quake, the Spire series increases the size of the stalactites dropped. It can also only affect one enemy in the earliest stage, but goes to three in the higher two.
  • Ragnarok - (7 PP) Ragnarok is a very strong attack where a single enemy is hit by a very large sword falling from the sky. It's pretty awesome, yes.
When he has four or more Venus Djinn set, the following spells are added in:
  • Gaia series - This includes Gaia (7 PP) and Mother Gaia (17 PP). It also includes Grand Gaia (32 PP) but Felix is not at a high enough level to use it yet, and I'm not sure how I would calculate EXP here, so unless I'm told otherwise I just won't worry about it. The Gaia attacks affect a small group of enemies and involve the earth basically opening up and going "RAWR, HAVE SOME LIGHT WITH ROCKS IN IT".
  • Revive - (15 PP) In the games, Revive is capable of fully restoring one character's HP from 0. Since this setting is very character death-friendly, however, I was thinking this could take one wound that would prove fatal after a few minutes and quickly make it non-life threatening. The injury would still be there and need additional healing, and without it could easily become fatal again under the wrong circumstances. If the wound is too bad, Revive will not work.
And, whenever he has six or more Venus Djinn set, the Ragnarok Psynergy turns into:
  • Odyssey - (18 PP) As implied, Odyssey is a powered up version of Ragnarok. A single enemy is hit by two big falling swords and one really big falling sword. This obviously does more damage than its counterpart.
Felix's trunk will include, among other things I'll list in a bit (because sob these video game characters have WAY too many abilities), the special items called the Grindstone, Scoop Gem, and Tremor Bit. These all grant special Psynergy in their own right:
  • Grind - (2 PP) Grind can wear down a large spire into a small rock that is easily passed over. This happens in a matter of seconds.
  • Scoop - (1 PP) As it sounds, Scoop is pretty much a way to dig without a shovel.
  • Tremor - (1 PP) Tremor causes a small earthquake in one room that is good for knocking items off of shelves. That's about it.
Since I've already mentioned Djinn, these are the nine he has set to him (so they're basically absorbed in his body but he can unleash one at a time if he wants).
  • Echo - Echo gives Felix an Earth-powered double strike attack, starting with a downward blow followed by an uppercut. He's (she's?) also canonly one of three that speaks, and is a persistent little brat who doesn't take "No" for an answer.
  • Iron - Iron increases the defense of Felix and up to three other allies by a fourth of whatever their defensive power is.
  • Steel - This Djinni lets Felix do a physical attack with 30% more strength, though it is Earth-powered. It also converts half of the power used in the attack into a bit more stamina for Felix.
  • Mud - This one shoots mud at all of Felix's opponents and slows them down. In the game it's by half, but I can change this if needed.
  • Flower - Flower restores 30% of HP (or stamina as it's likely going to be translated here) to Felix and up to 3 allies.
  • Petra - This Djinni affects one enemy and freezes it when it tries to do the first attack after Felix uses it.
  • Salt - When Felix releases Salt, it can take away anything harming or hindering him and up to three of his allies but does not heal wounds. For example, poisoning can be nullified but any damage it already did to someone would still be there.
  • Geode - Geode forms a clod of earth, seemingly from surrounding materials (though they never look affected), and launches it at one enemy, dealing damage.
  • Mold - Upon using this Djinni, it possesses one opponent and causes it to attack one of its allies. If it's fighting alone, the enemy attacks itself.
He is also naturally capable of the following Summons which use just the Venus Djinn. These require a certain number of Djinn in Standby Mode to be called upon:
  • Venus - [1] A spirit of the power of earth appears and does a light amount of damage to all of Felix's enemies.
  • Ramses - [2] The guardian of an immortal pharaoh, which kind of looks like a pyramid with a head and floating hands, appears and causes boulders to crash down on all of Felix's opponents, dealing a moderate amount of damage.
  • Cybele - [3] The great mother of the earth appears, which is apparently a big brown frog thing with trees on its head, and spits magic seeds into the ground. They immediately grow into thick, tall vines, which shoot Felix's opponents into the air and drops them seconds later when the vines vanish. A medium-high amount of damage is done.
  • Judgment - [4] A giant flying winged suit of armor with horns, a sword in one hand, and a lion head in the other appears and causes a mini-apocalypse that only ends up harming Felix's current enemies. This does a high amount of damage and, as you can probably imagine from that description, is all kinds of awesome.
If you feel as though this is too much for him, I am willing to cut back on the number of Djinn (all the way to zero even), which will affect his available Psynergy as explained. I am also willing to eliminate any and all Summons no matter what happens with the Djinn. Just let me know if you'd like changes and if you want to select the ones he can keep or if that's up to me. More detailed information about what Djinn are and how Summons work can be found here. I swear I helped, we just thought it would be easier on everyone to use the same link.

As for the contents of his trunk, Felix will be bringing the aforementioned Grindstone, Scoop Gem, and Tremor Bit. He will also have his clothes, an empty Mythril Bag that used to contain the Mars Star, and one more thing with an ability so why not list all six, right?
  • Tisiphone Edge - The Tisiphone Edge is a light blade that looks like this (and here is a picture I took of Matthew holding it in Dark Dawn for a rough size idea, he's a bit shorter than Felix). It's the strongest light blade in the series and is obtainable by his canon point. It also has a 35% chance of unleashing Vengeance, who is the spirit of an archer who shoots arrows at enemies. She shoots one of three amounts of arrows, and that amount affects the strength. It will be the same as his regular physical attack, twice as strong, or three times as strong. Whichever this ends up being also depends on chance.
If you think the release on his weapon is too much, I can also just have it be a regular sword that can't shoot things.

Sample Entry: Here is a musebox link! (technically on-going but it's fairly long already whoops ^^;)
